Raees was the Shah Rukh Khan Starrer action thriller Bollywood movie released in 2017. The film was released on 25 January 2017. The movie is directed by Rahul Dholakia. Pakistani actress Mahira Khan played the female lead in the movie opposite to Shah Rukh Khan. Nawazuddin Siddiqui also played a major role in the film. The movie narrates the story of cruel and clever bootlegger Raees Alam. Shah Rukh Khan plays the titular character of Raees Alam.
The film is produced by Gauri Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The movie is produced under the banner Red Chillies Entertainment and Excel Entertainment. The movie was released through 3500 screens worldwide. Initially, the film was decided to be released on 6th July 2016. The date of release was extended to avoid the competition with the Salman Khan starrer wrestling movie, Sultan. But at last, the film had to be released on the same day as Kaabil, the Hrithik starrer movie. The competition between these two movies affected their collections too.
