Out of the 5 major football leagues in Europe namely, EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Major league soccer. Now out of these only Bundesliga is returning to action. All the sporting events across the world were put on halt due to the coronavirus pandemic. But that event will be held behind closed doors and no fans are allowed. German league players were the first ones to start training amidst the lockdown, but the took care of the social distancing rules.
Last week there was a worry when 3 COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Cologne. But crucially the training went on as per schedule. Any positive case will be treated as regular injuries and will have to be quarantined for 14 days. On Monday the association of German Football league (DFL) stated that it has already tested 1724 players and staff. Of that 10 have tested positive for coronavirus.
All the teams will complete their games and all the players will have to undergo testing at least 2 times a week. As many as 3 team buses will be plying because of the social distancing. Players entering the stadium separately will not shake hands with each other.
When and where will the league be played?
Bundesliga New Schedule
Bundesliga will resume from the 16th of May 2020 after 60 days of lockdown. Each team will play a total of 9 or 10 games to complete the season. EPL has proposed to use neutral venues for its matches. But that won’t happen with Bundesliga. The home team will host their matches as normal, but they will be indoors with no crowds.
