Noro Virus confirmed in Ernakulam; 19 students are sick

19 students of Ernakulam Kakkanad Private School have been confirmed to be infected with Noro virus. The disease was confirmed by following up the symptoms. Some of the children’s parents have also shown signs of infection. Following this, a holiday was declared for classes 1 to 5 of the school. Nora virus is spread from an infected person to others. The district health department has started preventive measures.

What to do if infected with Norovirus? (Things to do after infection)

Norovirus sufferers can rest at home as per the doctor’s advice. Drink plenty of ORS solution and boiled water. If the patient’s condition worsens, specialist treatment should be obtained immediately. Since this virus can spread for two days after the illness, you should go out only after two days.

1. Environmental cleanliness and personal hygiene are very important.
2. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before eating and after going to the toilet.
3. Those who interact with animals should be especially careful.
4. Chlorinate drinking water sources, wells, water storage tanks, etc. with bleaching powder.
5. Use only chlorinated water for domestic purposes.
6. Use only boiled water for drinking.
7. Use fruits and vegetables only after washing them thoroughly.
8. Avoid using stale and exposed food items.
9. Eat sea fish and shellfish like crab and clams only after they are thoroughly cooked.
