Origin will return to Sydney’s Stadium Australia for the first time since Game II 2020. The venue hasn’t hosted a series opening since 2016, and it’ll be crowded since New South Wales has won three of the last four series. Viewers can watch online streaming of State of Origin live coverage through 9now and Kayo.
The Blues have won 19 of the 29 Origin matches held at the site, so Brad Fittler’s side will be confident.
The State of Origin Schedule for 2022 has been decided and will begin on June 8, 2022. At ANZ Stadium in Sydney, New South Wales will meet Queensland in Game 1 of the series.
With Latrell Mitchell expected to miss the first game of the series due to a hamstring ailment, a multitude of quality centers might step in. At this point, Stephen Crichton looks to be the front-runner, although Siosifa Talakai and Kotoni Staggs aren’t far behind.
Cameron Murray, who has a neck and shoulder ailment, will also miss the first game of the series. Given his ties to the Penrith/NSW halves, Liam Martin is the natural pick to start on the edge.
Ryan Papenhuyzen was expected to make his debut, however he has been ruled out for six weeks due to injury. After a strong start to the 2022 season, Nicho Hynes is expected to be the Blues’ No. 14 utility player.
Keaon Koloamatangi’s form for South Sydney has put him in contention for a bench or edge berth, but Daniel Saifiti’s poor form for Newcastle this season may mean he misses out.

Queensland will be hoping to rebound in 2022, and they’ll have a new coach to help them.
This year, the Maroons will be led by Billy Slater, who will be seeking to restore pride in the jersey following a difficult series last year.
Queensland has a lot of dynamic players in the team and several large forwards, so Slater will have to make some tough decisions in his debut Origin series as coach.
Both David Fifita & Jaydn Su’A are out with injury and might miss the first game of the series, which leaves the Maroons short on the forwards. Jeremiah Nanai is the only player that might be rewarded in 2022 for his outstanding performance for the Cowboys.
Dane Gagai broke his cheekbone & will be sidelined for the rest of the month, but he should be ready for Game one. If he misses out, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow will almost certainly replace him in the middle.
Kyle Feldt has been in superb form for the Cowboys & is expected to be called up to the Origin team. Should another forward injury occur, Reuben Cotter is an important smokey as well.
